NAKHON RATCHASIMA — Police in Huai Thalaeng district have arrested four members of a youth gang, aged 12 to 18, following a series of disruptive and dangerous incidents. The arrests came after social media videos showed the "102 Gang" engaging in a range of illegal activities, including throwing "ping-pong bombs" on public roads and vandalizing public property.
The viral videos, which circulated on platforms like Facebook and TikTok, depicted the youths brandishing knives and firearms, chasing rival gangs, and attacking the entrance signs of local villages.
Police launched an investigation after community leaders from tambon Muang Phlapphla filed a complaint about the damaged entrance sign to Ban Nonthong village. The sign was found with visible slash marks. Authorities quickly identified the culprits as members of the "102 Gang," a group based in tambon Ngui known for their frequent clashes with rival youth groups.
Residents have expressed repeated frustration over the gangs' activities and called for more decisive police action, fearing that the reckless behavior could lead to civilian casualties.
The arrests were made on Friday. During questioning, police confirmed that two of the four suspects tested positive for methamphetamines.
Further investigation by Huai Thalaeng police has identified two main gangs in the area: the "102 Never Die Gang" with 20 members and their rivals with 32 members. More suspects are being summoned for questioning.
In response to the public outcry, the Huai Thalaeng district chief has announced a meeting with various government agencies to establish prevention measures. These include setting up checkpoints, increasing night-time patrols, and collaborating with community leaders to monitor youth behavior more closely.
